The Four Financial Pillars of Your Life

As your life progresses, the balance between earning, saving, and distributing wealth naturally shifts. We structure your financial plan across four essential stages.

Phase 1: Accumulation Stage

Building Assets & Raising Your Standard of Living

Everyone aspires to raise their standard of living, building assets and wealth for themselves and their family. As a rule of thumb, everyone should aim to save at least 10% of their earnings toward their future.

  • 1 Short-Term Needs: Emergency rainy-day cash reserves (3-6 months' expenditure) protecting against unexpected expenses.
  • 2 Medium-Term Milestones: Tax-efficient ISA investments for major life purchases, home moves, and children's education.
  • 3 Long-Term Retirement: Tax-relieved pension contributions compounding in diversified global index trackers.
Explore Accumulation Services →

The 10% Savings Rule

Automating 10% of gross earnings into low-cost, diversified funds harnesses compound returns while avoiding the drag of inflation and high administrative fees.

Did you know? In the UK, your £20,000 annual ISA allowance and up to £60,000 Pension Annual Allowance offer powerful tax advantages that should be optimized every year.
Phase 2: Decumulation Stage

Transitioning from Earning to Sustainable Retirement Income

As you get older, you may decide to work less or retire completely. When active earnings drop, your accumulated investments and assets must fund an income to sustain your desired lifestyle.

  • 1 30 to 40 Year Longevity: Modern retirements last several decades; portfolios must be managed to combat sequencing risk and late-career market downturns.
  • 2 Sustainable Drawdown: Dynamic withdrawal strategies balancing tax brackets across State Pension, private pensions, ISAs, and cash buffers.
  • 3 Long-Term Care Planning: Factoring in potential later-life care needs and funding structures so family wealth isn't depleted.
Plan Your Retirement Drawdown →

Later Life Longevity

Overcoming the psychological hesitation to withdraw capital and managing cashflow modeling ensures you enjoy your retirement years without fear of running out of money.

Phase 3: Estate & Legacy

Mitigating Inheritance Tax (IHT) & Intergenerational Transfer

When your finances are secure, attention shifts to distributing excess wealth during lifetime or upon death. Without proactive planning, estates exceeding nil-rate allowances face 40% UK Inheritance Tax.

  • 1 Statutory Allowances: Maximizing the £325,000 Nil-Rate Band, £175,000 Residence Nil-Rate Band, and £3,000 annual gifting exemption.
  • 2 Gifting from Surplus Income: Section 21 of the IHT Act allows regular gifts from surplus income without 7-year survival restrictions.
  • 3 Living Legacies: Providing financial assistance to children or grandchildren when they need it most (home deposits, education).
Explore Estate Planning Hub →

Inheritance Tax Thresholds

A married couple can pass up to £1,000,000 free of IHT with proper structuring. Excess assets are taxed at 40% unless protected by exemptions or trusts.

Note: The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) does not regulate tax and trust advice, wills, or Powers of Attorney.
Phase 4: Risk Mitigation

Safeguarding Earning Capacity, Family & Future Independence

Throughout every stage, there is an imperative to protect what you have and safeguard your earning power. Until you have accumulated sufficient wealth to self-insure, structured protection bridges the gap.

  • 1 Income Protection: Replacing monthly earnings if illness or injury prevents you from working, until retirement age.
  • 2 Family Income Benefit & Life Cover: Cost-effective regular income or lump sums to safeguard young families.
  • 3 Wills & Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA): Essential legal safeguards against unexpected death or mental incapacity.

98% Payout Track Record

Official ABI statistics confirm 98% of UK protection claims are paid. Having policies correctly written into trust prevents delay and avoids IHT inclusion.

Award Winning: Winner of "Best Protection Advice from a Wealth Firm".
Important Regulatory Notice: The value of investments and pensions can fall as well as rise and you may get back less than you invested. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and is subject to change. The Financial Conduct Authority does not regulate tax and trust advice or Will writing.
